Robin Hill Center Upgrades
Each year, we offer various opportunities to support our community.  This year, our focus will be aimed at raising funds for interior facility updates and improvements to Robin Hill Center (located within Robin Hill Park at 949 Thorn Run Road).
Robin Hill Center, a historic estate, along with a carriage house was built in the early 1920s by Francis and Mary Nimick. Mary Nimick graciously bequested through her will, the family’s 53-acre property to Moon Township with proviso that it be “for perpetual use as a park or a wildlife refuge and for the enjoyment of the residents of said township and their friends.”  In addition, the grounds currently boast over 140 acres of natural landscape, miles of walking trails, the Fleur de Lune Garden, flower meadows, a gazebo, and an authentic 1800’s log home. Currently, Robin Hill Center is primarily used for Moon Parks & Recreation office space and programs as well as popular rental space for weddings, showers, graduation parties & more.
As part of our annual fundraising efforts, the Foundation is excited to announce our 2nd annual community fundraising event to be hosted at the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott on Saturday, May 6th at 6:00pm. In addition, we will be donating a portion of the proceeds raised from the event to our Moon Township Volunteer Fire Company. The event will feature a fun-filled evening of comedy & camaraderie featuring a ‘Murder Mystery Dinner Theater’ including:
Entertainment (musical entertainment & dinner theater)
Two Drink Tickets + Cash Bar
Hors D’oeuvres
Three Course Meal
Opportunities to win raffle prizes, silent auction items, a 50/50 raffle & door prizes!
To reach our fundraising goal of $15,000+ for this project, we are requesting support from our community. With your generosity, we will achieve our 2023 goals as a foundation to support the improvements at Robin Hill Center. The fundraising proceeds will be used for but not limited to replacement of boilers with new units that can produce both heating & cooling, kitchen updates & general interior upkeep.
We hope that you will review the attached sponsorship opportunities, which also include benefits for your organization, as part of your support and participation. Thank you for your consideration and we look forward to hearing from you.

THE BLACK DOG WINE COMPANY DOG PARK AT MOON PARK

Moon Township is developing a dog park for the community. With more than an acre of land and plenty of parking, this new park will have separate recreation areas for big and small dogs. You can participate in supporting the park by purchasing a Wag Bag, sponsoring a Biscuit Bench, Picnic Table or Agility Equipment.

The primary sponsor, Black Dog Winery, located in Imperial, has generously donated funds to develop more acreage in The Black Dog Wine Company Dog Park at Moon Park and provide funds for building restrooms for patrons.

The Black Dog Wine Co Dog Park at Moon Park

Location

The Black Dog Wine Company Dog Park at Moon Park will be attached to the greater Moon Park complex.  Vehicle access to the park will be across from the new Downes Fire Station on Beaver Grade Road.  A pedestrian path will link the Dog Park to the main Moon Park area across Ewing Road.  The park will utilize the property to the west of Discovery Field.  Many longtime residents may know this area as the Duck Pond.  Before the construction of the airport, a pond existed along Beaver Grade Road.  This pond offered fishing opportunities in the summer and ice skating in the winter.  This area is included in the park lease and will link up to Moon Park through the Brewer Airport Toyota softball fields and the Discovery soccer fields.

Design

The Black Dog Wine Company Dog Park will feature an acre of fenced in space with separate areas for larger and smaller dogs. The site will have double gates for safety, benches, and a water fountain for both people and dogs. The parking lot will service both the Dog Park and the Discovery soccer field.  Later phases of the project will include permanent bathrooms and a small picnic shelter.
